Bashar Al-Sayegh was arrested and beaten yesterday by the Kuwaiti Secret Police for an anonymous comment on Bashar’s forum regarding the Amir (which was deleted). Jasim Al-Qames (Al-Jarida Journalist) was also arrested and beaten by the Kuwaiti Secret Police for taking picture; and was forced to sign a unread document. Jasim has been released; Bashar is still in custody by the Secret Police, There was a press conference held today at Al-Tahaluf calling for the release of Bashar. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bashar and his Family.

Update:
Bashar has been released!

Free Bashar,,, Free Kuwait.
Wow! Amazing how low we’ve sunk. What’s next? This does indeed look like the begining of the new plan to disolve our house the Parliment and hang the Constitution out to dry. It is a plan with many tasks and it looks like implimentation has already begun. God I hope I’m wrong but indications are extremely bad!
The country is run by unchecked moral-less self-excusing low class thugs and theives. They brought the whole country from one low mark to a new low mark! We are now at our absolute worst and most volatile political and economic period. All because of “green-light-given” individuals fighting for power and control! It’s not like no one knows who they are or who stole what! It’s just good old fashioned third-world-county corruption.
Thank you ahmad al-fahad, jassim al-kharafi, sharar, Ali al-khalifa and his monkey son, etc………………. You make kuwait proud. (notice almost all are filthy rich after very modest beginings)
Despicable, isn’t it? I’m fuming at the lack of basic human decency. What happened to human rights and freedom? Ugh.

This is sick, Just to be safe, I guess it wouldnt hurt to start moderating comments now, especially for Kuwaiti bloggers.
This is absurd.
Noted and linked.
This is pathetic.
This is Sad..
You’re gonna love what I wrote. Harsh, eh?
K, can you please share the link of Jassim’s blog ?
Wow…this ladies and gentlemen is getting interesting. Is anyone thinking at this point? It seems to me that certain people are going for broke. It’s all or nothing. Allah iraji3 Bashar 7eg ahala ib 9i7a o-3afya.
Are they serious ?? since when these kinda things happen in Kuwait ?? does the concept of “ freedom of the speech “ means anything to anyone anymore ??? kidnapping people and terrorizing them for doing something or taking some pictures or even talking about someone !! SO WHAT !! I mean I’m Kuwaiti I say whatever I wana whenever I wana !! its not like I’m a slave ! I love my county I owe my life to it but that does not mean that I’m supposed to go along with everything that goes on it whether its right or wrong ! right is right and wrong will always be wrong .. and there will always be someone to stand up against it !! to be fair enough I have no idea what did they wrote or say .. but still that’s not the way .. I mean those are Kuwaiti citizens .. who happen to have rights they are not to be taken away just like that .. this is not acceptable …

Damn it .. every patriot out there knows that Kuwait is our flesh and blood.. This guy wouldn’t start the blog and wouldn’t respond to people’s comments if he didn’t care about Kuwait in the first place…and the other guy thought it was his duty as a journalist to take pictures of what he thought is wrong … I have no idea how the secret police’s system works .. & i’m not here to say whats right or wrong .. but I know that beating up a guy is wrong according to our system..and Bashar thought it’s was right to take pictures of what he thought was wrong ..
وعي وطني سنناضل من خلاله
بالحجة والمنطق نهزم “إرهاب” الدولة
I heard they managed to track down the guy who left those nasty comments…no news about that idiot who created all these problems…
CyberRowdy:
Apparently it was someone from the Army .. N.Al-Ajmi. Don’t ask me if this is a conspiracy by the SecretPolice/Al-Watan tho .. I didn’t say anything.
Just thank the Lord they’re released. Seriously- what’s happening here yo?! I won’t go on about Kuwait being the envy of the gulf for its equality and fairness but hey.. And 6mins? Whoa..are the secret police keeping tract of just about EVERYTHING?
Its just one of those amazing things you here and don’t know what to make of. I’m still stunned- seriously.
Just happy they’re out though. The poor kid looks like he’s lost weight

I didnt ask anything. you didnt say anything

delete both!
Wait a sec.. I was under the assumption that they’ve both been released. Has Jasim been released yet?!
-Maya
good to hear !
Pathetic …
Dude..post something new already. Like this conspiracy theory:
The Jahra Hospital fiasco was the work of some State Security arsonists who botched up lighting a ciggie in their friend’s ward. Accidentally tipping over a bottle of ethyl alcohol they set the whole shit on fire.
Al-Rujaib took this incident to make sure that the State Security’s botched kidnapping of Bashar goes away unnoticed.
What do you think? I’m bored.
I think you have been watching too much prison break .. It happens to the best of us .. after finishing season 2, I questioned if my parents were real.
I’ve always thought of Kuwait as the only remained democratic country in the ME, what happened???
LOOOOL @ K’s. Hmm, the only side effect I got from watching Prison Break is a huge crush on Michael and a strong repulsiveness to the airheads in Q8. Your input is interesting though- a doze of prison break causing a malfunctioning derealization, could be a nice article
Mansour, we have our ups & downs. What’s up with the Utopia syndrome and belief in a glass pyramids? Read Orwell’s 1964! You will re-think the concept of BIG BROTHER twice hehehhehe
Oops sorry I meant Orwell’s 1984- you can tell I flunked the theory classes
O o o wait, lemme take more space and elaborate since i’m on the VERBAL DIARRHEA mood. The Utopian V.S. DYSTOPIA and Orwellian’s totalitarian society with the concept of “Big Brother who’s watching you” and could evict you. This actually gives me another idea, I think Orwell could very much be a 2006/7 geezer- YUP!. The big brother show, for instance, in the UK could be in a way a portrayal of a dystopia in disguise- a small society of infested creatures locked up 24 hours- in a way trying to convey truth- by flashing boobs and possessing identities in teh closets! Ooooohh I just wish I wrote that back when I was in college, at least when I have gotten kicked out, it was all in the name of a good hypothesis LOOOOOL!!! go go go missy!!!!
