Fiber-optic pricing.
Different ISPs have different strokes .. Since the marketing people are having a field day with the pricing stategy, I can’t make this into a simple chart.
Qualitynet:
Qualitynet is charging the same as their DSL service; their current rates are here.
Prices (may) include the 7kd connection charge.
KEMS:
Here is the confusing one .. They have only one package: you sign up for the first three months (and get a free wireless router); then you renew for a year within those three months.
- 256: 38.5kd for the first three months. 99kd to subscribe for an extra year.
- 512 70kd for the first three months 199kd to subscribe for an extra year.
- 1mb 115kd for the first three months 399kd to subscribe for an extra year.
- 2mb 190kd for the first three months 699kd to subscribe for an extra year.
Prices already include the 7kd connection charge.
Fasttelco:
Fasttelco is charging the same as their DSL service; their current rates are here.
Prices already include the 7kd connection charge.
United Networks:
I was unable to contact their sales staff and you have to be added to a mailing list to receive further information. Based on their adverts, they seem to be offering a 1kd a month (for limited 64kbps) internet connection. On the bright side, they have announced new DSL rates (which could be the same as fiber-optics) .. the current rates are here.

So if I place my own fiber, you think any of the monopolizing ISPs would give me a lower rate? Since it’s MY line.
Anyhow, there’s been no major changes in pricing. It’s plus/minus a few KDs for all of the ISPs. KEMS are almost practically the same, except they just added more spice to the confusion lol
Я:
Actually its the opposite, I placed my own fiber for the office .. and they charged me an extra fee (~1700kd a year in ducting fees) in addition to the internet charges.
As I mentioned in the last post, don’t expect a change in pricing .. MOC is charging too much for bandwidth. As for KEMS, they might have replaced their marketing team with savants .. the perils of having techs set the pricing schemes.
Thanks for the informative post. Qnet link is not working by the way.
Not that I have Fiber Optics yet but it’s still a step we are all waiting for. KEMS seems to be most competitive in prices, but I heard their support is not what you hope for. They are mainly useful for corporate use as I heard.
I’d be interested in users review later on
Bashar: I have Kems for home and they were pretty good with me, it took a little back and forth for them to figure out all the details but they did all the necessary work in the end.
I’m curious when they will be offering fiber to the rest of the country!
KEMS have an ads today offering a 0.5 kd internet connection.
why dont we get dsl 2 where u can get high speeds at low prices and all over copper
Bashar:
I have fixed the link .. thanks.
I have had great support from KEMS .. they are probably the best in Kuwait (compared with other ISPs).
Marzouq:
Fiber for all of Kuwait .. lol.
ElMoz:
The 256 pricing I listed is 0.5kd a day according to their sales staff.
I agree with you about KEMS. We’re contracted to them now in my office, honestly man I’ve never seen people like them.
MOC won’t back down at all, they’re desperate to make money. Hence the hefty phone bill (if you have int’l) in which you called Zimbabwe and other such countries.
Which reminds me, what about Gulfnet, remember them? The one in Al-Gaz Tower where I got my 1st ever inet account from. They have DSL services too.
Я:
KEMS is truly amazing .. I have kept their CCIE’s up for long nights fixing issues. MOC is ridiculous .. blocking torrent sites and VoIP is not going to get them anywhere. As for Gulfnet, they became United Networks.
You are making this stuff up.
I agree with you. But they are 7anna..several occasions BT (you know they’re partners now right?) went down on our end, and I found about 17 missed calls when I woke up the next morning.
I had to put them back into line and clarify that I am not 24/7 support for my company.
nibaq:
Your on to me ..
Я:
You don’t want to be on the other end of a Zajil issue .. I am surprised they didn’t walk into your home and wake you up.
okay i usually dont do this , but it was really sucks that i dont mind telling .. KEMS SUCKS .. they are useless !!! believe me !!
united networks.. yea.. umm.. yea…. … yea …. i see….. united networks.. ok…
THEY BLOW,
more than paris hilton.
Hi
I’ve never used DSL because I’m in South Surra, and I’m currently using MTC’s EDGE connection by my mobile. So is it worth changing to 512kbps DSL/Fiber optics??
and which of the services you mentioned do you think is better?
Navy Girl:
I have forwarded your post to the right people ..
jajaja:
lol .. thats what I hear.
Aurous:
You should definitely make the switch. Its a huge difference .. I would go with Zajil; their three month offer is quite good: 38.5kd for three months of 512 with a free wireless router and installation.
does this service extend to city areas.. like sharq and shaab ?
im3vil:
Nope .. just Fahed Al-Ahmed and South Surra for now.
aint that sweet
thanks ! I really appreciate it
