Nokia E90 review.
07Jul07

The Good:
- The e90 is very quick .. by far the fastest Nokia phone I have ever used. It could handle well over 12,000 contacts and messages without a hickup.
- The menu system was completely redone and is more similar to the S60 system (as opposed to the S80).
- The buttons are much better to type on than the 9500i
- Internet formatting is better, still far from replacing a PDA (like the N770)
- You can do much more functions from the initial screen (without opening it).
The Bad:
- GPS is terrible .. barely works.
- Camera is so-so, the one from the N80 is better.
- Its a big phone (smaller than previous communicators tho).
- Battery life leaves a little to be desired (compared to e61i)
- Software can be a little buggy at times
- Its expensive!
Basically, get it if you must have it .. its a good phone. If you can wait a couple weeks (let the hype die down), prices will drop and the software issues will get ironed out.
While its a great upgrade to the current communicator line, I don’t see it replacing my e61i. The phone is unnecessarily expensive; which is normal for any ‘must have’ Nokia phone in this market. And I am going to wait for Nokia to iron out the bugs before making the jump, don’t feel like being a beta-tester anymore.

Damn you quick! hahaha! I was just typing some info about it as well! E61i> everything else!
dude if i sell your phones i would be able to buy a car for my self.
Marzouq:
Lol, you gotta be quick ..And you didn’t end up posting!
Judy Abbott:
I wish, After I use them they are useless (I tend to push them).
:: “could handle well over 12,000 contacts and messages without a hickup” !!!
There was a time for that !!
Frankom:
Tarsheed messages add up quickly .. Actually, I copied them over from my other phone to test the processor.
iPhone ..
G-Funk:
~79$ to replace a battery?
No 3g?
No third party applications?
Thanks .. I’ll pass.
K.
-It’s not yet available anywhere else except for the states ( for now )
- The battery is not an issue if you use it carefully . (Same case with the iPod - didn’t have to replace the battery )
- There are 3rd part applications . but they are web based .
- 3g will be available when they launch the Euro version .
“Still thinking of passing ?? “”
G-Funk:
I use a ton of applications on my Nokia phone .. If I had to go to a website Every time I wanted to do something; i would probably brake it into a couple of pieces. Not to mention; syncing (with my home server) wouldn’t be possible .. exchange-push email wouldn’t be possible, etc ..
iPhone is might be good for other users .. it does absolutely nothing for me.
K:
Most of the functions you use on your Nokia phone is already available on the iPhone . not to mention the “push email” feature and the ease of use on the iphone itself. Besides the fact that the iPhone is still in it’s first stages of development . The future is still bright for the iPhone . Apple tend to target the everyday consumer when they first release a new product (they are a product company) , when this product makes it success . They then add features to it and release a pro version of that product . Rumors predict that apple will be releasing a new revision of the iPhone with more features and applications soon , not to mention the Nano version of the phone itself.
The iPhone is sync-able with Mac OSX (Of-course) and you can sync it with wintel PC via a 3rd party app that will be release soon (Developers are catching up with the device since its relatively new to the market) , and soon you will see a lot of 3rd party apps and utilities to be released for the iPhone .
Apple is an innovative company . They make great products for the rest of us .
G-Funk:
You made some very valid points, and I think Apple is a great company (I have two ipods). And I would definitely suggest the iPhone to people who can make use of the features.
However, the lack of a PC-sync application and creating third party apps is a big enough reason not to personally get the phone; or suggest it to a IT-minded person. I understand that people are currently developing software; but it will take time to fully mature into a solid application (that supports different sync-servers). The symbian system currently has thousands of third-party apps which is going to take the iPhone a long time to catch up.
And personally, I do not watch videos, listen to music or look at pictures on my phone. So the majority of the features will be unused.
One thing people keep forgetting about the iphone is that it has NO tactile feedback.
What does this mean? This means that the iPhone is the only phone in recent memory that you have to use with both hands and while STARING AT THE SCREEN, since your fingers cannot “feel” their way around the keys (because essentially, its a giant touchscreen, with no hard keys).
Add to the that the following fatal flaws:
1. No 3G. Even the Euro version will not support all 3G features
2. Battery is not user replaceable
3. Requires a particular program (iTunes) to make any use of it
4. No screen protection
5. Hello? Has anyone considered that it doesn’t support Arabic
6. Lacking third party applications, or SDK to develop your own
7. Its a 1st generation device, which means inevitable bugs that you really don’t want to be the beta tester for.
8. No custom ringtones — you must pay for them.
9. Battery life will be a problem
10. Price. The HTC Touch is a better value.
K nice review mate, can you please tell me how can I copy all my text msgs from one phone to the other?? I guess you did that with your messages.
N80 has the worse camera in all the Nseries phones. The e90 has a way better camera!
K. i just found the best phone EVER and the smallest smart phone … behold the nokia 6120 classic i got one 2 days ago and its amazing u should try it out
Get a GloFiish and get it over with.
Nokia sucks. No matter what they do.
Well.. I called Nokia and they told me it will take more than a week till I can buy it! I think since the Iphone wont work in Kuwait I will have the E90..
thought I already have the prevouis Communicator and its work fine as if it is NEW! but I like to change from time to time..
Myeh you guys just forgot about the poor E90 eh? Maybe thats a good thing… I havent used the previous communicator but this one’s type pad is just too tiny. And I dont even have stubby fingers! Well at least the bulky thing doubles up as a weapon too.
I think the review is totally rubbish……………………he has underestimated the phone. I have used this fone for 1 month now. I am an ardent nokia user……….replaced dis wid de crappy nokia n95(bad battery). The e90 is faboulous……………beats even de htc advantage……….awsome screens and lovely keypad as well as the camera as good as the n93. Video is amazing (VGA @ 30fps)……radio and many more. U can easily replace dis wid de e61i(mom is using it)………..e61i is a confused mobile i guess. Dis is a coveted mobile and a boon 4 all de businessman. Cheers!!!!!!!!!
How much is it now in Kuwait Dinar?
I am planing to buy it next month..
wat a good fone it is !!
hmmmm Guys it’s Depends. If you want to be fashionable and hip, pick the iPhone. If you want more functionality, pick the E90 Communicator. And Thanku
