No new numbers?
MOC announced (in various newspapers nonetheless) that they would be adding another digit to all numbers beginning June 1st. Its a week after the supposed changeover; and yet the numbers have stayed the same. Did the MOC decide that the number change was not advertised well enough to go through with it? Or did they realize that we have enough numbers as is (with mobile retention rate at 100+%).
My solution to the number issue would be a bit simpler than issuing new digits. The average house has roughly three telephone lines .. however they only need one real number. Therefore give each house multiple connections to the same line (like hotlines); You basically have three telephone lines that share the number with multiple calls allowed either way. If the line is being used, it still rings on another link. You can still make simultaneous calls on the same telephone line (used or unused).
Update: As some of the commenter’s have stated, MOC has postponed the addition of new digits until next year.

Even simpler…when people don’t pay the bill DISCONNECT THE BLOODY LINE!
Then more numbers would be available.
Thank you.
the new numbering plan will start in jan 2008 as both telecome companies are ready thier just waiting for MOC to be ready
LOL guessed…
yes thats a great idea k
they do this in kuwait, and i think it would be an excellent idea for kuwait.
they wrote about it in al qabas. they delayed it to next year.
And they will delay another year after that! MOC is useless! What K said about the hotline would be great, I would prefer having fiber to home an that would solve all the problems and make things a lot easier!!
MOC sucks
guessed:
Disconnecting old lines would free up thousands of lines .. but then the public would get in a fizzy and Parliament would grill the Minister.

Thanks for the info .. and again .. MOC is the one with the issues.
Adam:
I think the hotline idea would solve several of MOCs problems (one line .. one bill). However, its a very slim chance that anything would be implemented.
Enigma:
I probably missed the article .. thanks.
Marzouq:
Exactly .. And you don’t want fiber to the home; The link would get broken and you would not have internet/phone for a couple months, Its bad enough with copper lines.
ElMoz:
Perfectly summed up in two words .. We need to get rid of it completely and start over.
guys dont give up on copper in the uk thier getting amazing bandwidth with it
fiber in kuwait is a big joke with the time you get it at home it has around 100 splitters from the main line
when I moved to an apartment in Kuwait a while back, i used the phone line for 8 months before it finally got disconnected.
It’s wise to postpone the decision for a year
Why does Kuwait need 100,000,000 different telephone numbers NOW?
The current system theoretically allows for 10 million phone numbers. In a country of less than 4 million people, each person already has 2 phone lines. I’m really curious why MOC thinks this is not enough
the more services u want the more numbers u need. with more numbers u can offer more things. data lines and vas and dont forget voip will need numbers as well
