Never order Shrimpy.
Here I was, Friday evening… tired and hungry. I open the day’s newspaper to check up on the dailies… then out from between the pages comes an advertisement for Shrimpy. Shrimpy, the local seafood brand that has permanently etched ‘Yalla Shrimpy’ into my head.
After I attempted to “Yalla Shrimpy” and order; I have come up with the following:
Reasons why I (or you) should never order Shrimpy (again):
1. It takes them over an hour and half to deliver food across the street.
2. They will deliver the wrong items (They forgot two things and gave me the wrong dish; the only thing right was the diet coke).
3. The food will arrive semi-cold and soggy; which is never appealing for seafood.
And if that didn’t put you off…
4. Their food looks like something they forgot to throw out the day before. I lost my appetite quicker than models on coke when I saw the food. Here is a link to the pictures. I even opened a new flickr account because I didn’t want my flickr contacts to get disgusted.
5. Their food looks inedible (for lack of a better word). Yes, it is so bad that this alone accounts for two reasons (even more possibly) why you, me or anyone else should order Shrimpy.
The customer support wanted to refund my money and send me another meal. I told him my life would be much better if I was given the pleasure of never seeing another Shrimpy Meal in my life. Poor guy has a tough job trying to apologize for food that looks like it was made in a Bangkok street shack.
Again, friends don’t let friends order Shrimpy. Don’t let the simply delicious logo fool you.

As for what you got, does not surprise me, shrimpy standards for hygiene are bad, they are well known for that and I know many people who got food posioned from their meals, however their management does not do a thing and keeps on hiring incompetent people in their branches and in the kitchen.
The oil they cook with is used oil, the quality of the actual items they use in the cooking are low standard and they even use leftovers from other shrimpy affiliated restaurants in order to pass around as fresh cooked, in other words, what you had might be someone else’s dinner left over from a few days ago at another of restaurant owned by the same company.
So do not even eat at Shrimpy, any Shrimpy in Kuwait.
If you had to order, try the fish/burger stuff instead of shrimps.

i don’t know how you even thought of trying it … it is tasteless and juncky it feels like you are eating a gallon of oil… i hate shrimpy even their shrimps are filled with flour and smells yuck..

Damn! K that is just horrible! I wouldnt even touch shrimpy with a ten foot poll!! Let alone getting it! You should have gotten Kabab-ji or Papa Jones.. both deliver in under 45 mins! Usually 30mins and they are there!
I was just about to order out, now I know Shrimpy won’t be considered, in fact I lost my appetite completely.

There is no way in hell’s name that they would ever serve you other people’s uneaten food.
Even a vicious rumour like that - would have the Baladia in there quicker than a hungry fly landing on a freshly steamed $hit.

i never liked the place. in lebanon i had it once, never again, its not much better there either. but for some odd reason, the shrimpy next to kuwait towers is always packed.

its really upsetting…esp when you are hungry….shrimps are high tech guys man…they are playing on the shrimpy.com….they dont have time to entertain us!!
I never understood the concept of to-go seafood. Seafood HAS to be eaten fresh in my book and unlike chicken or sometimes beef, you HAVE to buy it at either a really good high end restaurant or cook it at home. Otherwise it’s too big a risk.
Please can you post something quickly about a piece of brocolli or an apple (with a nice healthy pic). I keep checking to see what new stuff you’ve written about and have to see that grease (at least I hope it’s grease and not rat diarrhea) covered Shrimpy box…

I vowed never to order from them again - and stated that repeatedly to their management including managers at their holding company (Kuwait Catering Company), and www.6alabat.com. They don’t care. Save your breath. I ordered from them on 2 separate occassions and made numerous phone calls. They promised and promised and promised that the food was on the way. They just never showed. They’re just not worth the frustration.
I remember going to Shrimpy’s next to the Kuwait Tower and it was loverly! That was back in the mid 90’s! So i guess its changed..
