   For Qnet, this test might be inconclusive. Anything on port 80 (http) goes through the caching boxes, so the rate will be messed up due to that hop.

   For instance, I have a 1mb connection now, but that test page gives me only 576down, 409 up. However, when I use a download manager to get a file, it hits 120kbytes/sec (full 1mbit)

   I’ve never used Fasttelco, so I’m not sure if this applies to them as well.

   I do wish there was a speed test on anything other than port 80.

    They don’t tell me what the speed is but they say “sur3a 3aliya” in their ads. This is a volume based package so I pay KD 16 for no more than 2 Gb per months. For some reason though when I connect I get a balloon on the bottom right hand side of the screen that says 1.8 mbps but that’s SO not true, it takes me ages to get something off of iTunes so I dont know why it says that on the PC.

    (I put in the NY Server to beging the test.)

    Your speed is actually quite good for the service; The current MTC network is limited to 384K. The HSDPA network *can* handle up to 1.8mbps .. but it will be a cold day in hell before they give you all of that bandwidth. In theory you are connected at 1.8mbps .. but it is limited to 384kbps.

    Yeah I called them and asked them about that and they said they’re planning to get it up to 1.8 mbps but that they havent rolled that out yet…something like that. Thats all fine and dandy except that since it’s a volume based package I can’t really download all I want. Last time I tried to do that I ended up coughing up over KD 400 to MTC for going way overy 2 G. So if anyone wants to have internet at home mainly for the
    purpose of downloading definitely avoid the MTC 3G data card thingi.

    I think its ridiculous that they call the package ‘unlimited’ .. then give you 1gb (the other gb is ‘extra’). The MTC package is strictly for websurfing and occaisional use .. if you plan on doing any downloading, stick to something unlimited. I just hope they fix the plan before they start offering 1.8mbps .. otherwise it will be useless.

    I use the same card as 1001nights, and have the same package. Except I do not have never received a 3G signal and thus am limited to EDGE.

    Upload: 57kbps

    Lately though they have been blocking many many sites, including youtube.com, thesuperficial.com, bleenks.com, even handbag.com, which is a ladies fashion and life site!!

    It is just too much blocking, I think it is based on KEMS though.

    Sorry this is way after everyone replied. Wataniya HSDPA with the AirCard 850 I pay KD28 per month and the download speed is 864 kbps upload is 156 kbps.

    Sometimes it’s faster sometimes slower, it seems to depend whether I’m outdoors or indoors. Faster when out, slower when in the house.

    I heard that soon HSDPA will soon allow upto 7.2 mbps downloads. I wonder when this will come in Kuwait.

    In the link above, it shows a screenshot of ma freaken speed showing its only 251 download speed and 104 upload speed! gawd is annoying yet im okay with the speed coz i barely use my internet.. xD

    anyhow, my speed is 1mb using united networks.

    download (~1200kb) which is a bit more than what i paid for
    upload (~420) vice versa, its less than what i paid for

    thats about it
