There are so many things wrong with this picture it has to be a joke.

Happy Wedding

Good Bless our coupls…
Whish happines tie you and cids Picoret(?)
your life
I thought it was funny when we had the 3agad putting stickers on their cars. Now they have grown up, gotten married, and started writing garbage on pieces of marble. Not only have they misspelled words that are less than two characters (tie ? to); they also started making up words (picoret).
People of Kuwait, if you do not know English… don’t use it! I for one, will not think any less of you if you write in Arabic. It would even look much better if written in a classical arabic font (or scribbled on for that matter). And, if you feel the need to show off your prowess in foreign languages, spell check! Especially if you plan on carving the damn paragraph in a ton of marble! Also, what does ‘your life’ have anything to do with it?
For the record, this picture was taken in Qurtoba earlier this morning.

Lol. Apart from the spelling mistakes, that thing is just plain ugly. It looks more like an extravagant gravestone!
Qurtuba has its own lingo.. oo ba3dain Shyaybik Qurtuba..?
Erzulie:
I would probably walk straight out of my own wedding if that was in there. As for the large gravestone .. you know what they say about weddings.
Mobi:
I was passing by your place to remember the good times… Actually, I was dropping my
cousin home after a morning of chasing the ‘Amazing Race’ people.
oo shako lingo? latragi3 7ag ahal mantiqtik!
lo0l yimkin i7taraw min the election posters and stuff and thus wanted to prove a point!
and yeah that is very feasible and plausible, we’re in kuwait! ;p
no WAY! THIS CANNOT BE TRUE!!!
OH MY GOSH
baroque:
They decided to carve a ton of marble in broken english to get back at the election people? Actually .. anything is possible in Kuwait. What I really want to know is, what is picoret?
judy Abbott:
I took a picture of it because I thought it looked big and ugly. After I got home I read it and realized what it said .. I still can’t believe it!
In Qurtuba ha? very nice ;P
a Picoret is a small hybrid hairless dog, approximately 6-8 inches long, nose-to-tail. It was bred by the last Chinese dynasty to guard the urns containing the sacred ashes of former great emperors. The Picoret is known primarily as a vicious guard dog who can “appear” to spend 24 hours asleep while guarding an object… yet the dog will jump into action in a split second, sinking his razor-sharp teeth into anyone or anything which gets within a centimetre of the object it’s guarding. As there is no longer a Chinese dynasty, the popularity of the Picoret is dying out, and is more commonly found today as a guard dog in small apartments, thanks to their tiny nature, their lack of a bark, and the fact that they will happily eat their own excrement thus avoiding the need to clean up after it.
But I don’t know why the Picoret would be referenced in an Arabic wedding plinth.
If I were you, I would say “Allahumma la shamatah” no one was born with the ability and requirements to be as fluent as you in english.
I know 28 year olds here that cant form up sentences, they are studying in english centres all the around the country, all of em coming form the middle east, paying heaps of money just to gain a boost in their english level.
It’s funny, I can have a tape recorder recording every single english-learning arab over here, and making fun of them, but why? why would I do that.
Please don’t be offended, but I am just sparing my 2 cents over here. [This is the original post, unmodified]
shopa:
Yup .. the things you see early in the morning.
tim:
Maybe the letter is not picoret… either way, that would make for a very deep message.
Windwalker:
And I was not born fluent in English either; I learned it like everybody else. And the point was not to make fun of people that do not know English; it is making fun of people using it in the wrong place.
If a person makes a sticker or sign with a misworded/spelled sentence, I don’t really care. However, If you plan on getting a plaque of marble the size of a small room and then engraving it (for a wedding nonetheless). At least take a few moments to think over what you are doing and writing.
Like I said in my post, If you don’t know English.. Don’t use it! Or if you are adamant about writing something in English and are not sure… Ask for help!
OMG
What is it “make everything ugly” season ??
and the ENGLISH oooooohh Dear God !!
Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool cracked me up darling !! thanx for the laughs…
7adek 3ala Qor6uba. Ofcourse I know what a picoret is.
What a damn waste….
http://q8techdrive.blogspot.com/2006/03/speechless-pics-from-egypt.html
is worth a look?
LOOOOOOL thats hilarious!
I think he meant to say “tie you” not “to you”…coz if u translate it to Arabic it would make sense…atmana tarbe6kum el sa3adaaa LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL ambay ambay thats just hilarious!!!
by the way… the dog thing was just bullsh*t… I was bored in the office. Everyone knows that a picoret is a small bejewelled silver device, like an expensive toothpick, for picking up small chunks of pineapple at dinner parties from the 1970’s.
I have seen misspelled words in advertisement billboards along the kuwait roads. Have always wondered how such mistakes occur…
hehehehehe misakeen.. and i think that the ppl who made this really really do want to give Manar and Abdullah a small hybrid hairless dog… they just spent all the money away on this marbel monstrosity..
honestly i still can’t believe it.. i don’t even get who this peson decided to do such a thing and WHY!!
Okay, usually I’d laugh at that too…
But right now I’m learning a language, and it hit me…
Here we make fun of people who try to use a second/third language, when other countries encourage it to learn.
So this sign kinda reminded me of that…
And well, it may come off as kinda cute when you think about it- the whole notion that is
Althought I cant believe someone would actually put up such a sign and on top of that for their wedding but I agree with dishevelled its not right to make fun of things you dont learn a language overnight ..
Dishevelled:
I support anybody trying to educate themselves or learn a language. If I wanted to make fun of people that were learning, I would go to some random english class and record people trying to speak. The point is not to make fun of people learning english or any language. This sign is beyond that .. this is the direct opposite. Its one thing to learn a language and use it as you go along; its another thing to engrave complete nonsense into a ton of marble.
Chica bonita:
^
maybe you guys should listen to a funny audio clip of an italian guy who goes to malta.. with his poor english, he missunderstood everything and finally came back to italy disappointed.. he missunderstood the words “sheet” to “shit” - “folk” to “fukc” - “peace” to “piss” and so on.. but i realized, that these guys are even worse than that poor italian..
as k said, spell check.. well everyone have a office suit in pcs and that word is a perfect spell checker as well as grammar.. maybe give it a try!
LOL! This is HILARIOUS! Ahem thing’s the Picoret !!!! GOD, this is FUNNY!
love from swiss

And thats the difference between blocks of marble and an online blog.
maybe one day they will actually realise that they are the cockroaches of this planet
