Legally senseless at 36.
I have just gone 36 (48 now) hours without sleep (for more than 20 minutes); and at this point .. the majority of things seem much more entertaining. Why am I still awake .. why don’t I just jump in bed and wait for the sandman to come over for tea an biscuits? Ba3adl Nowmti! My brain has been stuck in dreamland limbo for a couple days now. And, this seems like the only way to get back to following the mental solar schedule.
While sleep might be the cousin of death, I was visited by its close relative boredom. Boredom and sleep deprivation go hand in hand, not only are you tired but it takes a minute to realize whats going on. And with every onset of boredom, you satisfy the lapse of brain stopping with visits to google to keep yourself semi-entertained. I figured, lets see what the hype with this lack of sleep thing.
A search led me to a wikipedia page on sleep deprivation:
People who drove after being awake for 17–19 hours performed worse than those with a blood alcohol level of .05 percent, which is the legal limit for drunk driving in most western European countries
So 17-19 makes a person legally drunk .. that leaves me at borderline AA meetings and spousal abuse.
Then I decided to vist a long time friend from my college days, caffeine. A couple hours later, enough redbull to revive a elephant (I think my blood type has changed from B- to sugarfree) and some more free time on my hands .. I again turn to google to check why my hand won’t stop shaking (and checking if Jackie found another persona).
Apparently the effects of caffeine are just as bad:
Caffeine also increases dopamine levels in the same way that amphetamines do (heroine and cocaine also manipulate dopamine levels by slowing down the rate of dopamine re-uptake). Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that, in certain parts of the brain, activates the pleasure center.
To a nerve cell, caffeine looks like adenosine. Caffeine therefore binds to the adenosine receptor. However, it doesn’t slow down the cell’s activity like adenosine would. So the cell cannot “see” adenosine anymore because caffeine is taking up all the receptors adenosine binds to. So instead of slowing down because of the adenosine level, the cells speed up. You can see that caffeine also causes the brain’s blood vessels to constrict, because it blocks adenosine’s ability to open them up.So now you have increased neuron firing in the brain. The pituitary gland sees all of the activity and thinks some sort of emergency must be occurring, so it releases hormones that tell the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline (epinephrine). Here
So not only am I apparently quite drunk from the sleep deprivation, I have also been spending my mid-friday coked up and jacked on adrenaline..
Anyway .. off to bed.
Good night.

You should go to sleep, I couldn’t follow your thoughts here, seriously couldn’t read them continuously had to take a few breaks!
You should join the conversation in my head .. I never thought I would have sandals and sugar is the same mental thought.
LOL Sandals and Sugar?
scary my friend scary!
Join the club my friend! Last night was the night I actually got some sleep! (6 hours of it)
Hmmm if that’s the case then I’m always Drunk and constantly Hi
Ok it may sound cheesy or like an old granny’s tale, but if we’re talking neurotransmitters… Then warm milk, like turkey and carbs on thanks giving dinner, has the ability to knock you out for the night. An easier way to put it is, the brain is like a jigsaw puzzle… and each function has a perfect chemical match for what ever it is seeking. Hence, the tryptophan in Warm milk helps to induce serotonin levels, the neurotransmitter that contributes to better Zzzzzz

Next time you’re sleep deprived try a glass of warm milk
Blaah blaah blaah… if that doesn’t work try Ambien… or for a quicker cheaper fix… a good smack in the head will do

I can’t even remember what idea I had at the time
Laialy_q8:
When the government finds out about the side effects of caffeine/sleep they are going to start forcing us to bed for 7 hours a night.

only 7 hours?
“May I have some sandals with my tea,” screaming across the muddy orange colored hall that was covered in raggedy old newspapers from the 1960’s.
If you want to stay more awake, try a shot of espresso or strong Turkish coffee chased down with a can of cool Red Bull. Red Bull is filled with caffeine equivalent to 3 espressos (my personal estimate, I could be wrong) and with Taurin that does more stuff to your neurons and makes you more active.
I had some post about that on my blog somewhere.

shaking of the hand is very normal, also feeling like you had sunburns on your body is also normal.
my legs were the ones that didn’t stop shaking the other day, it’s caffeine, it makes you feel as if you wanna turn into a bullet and destroy whoever is infront of ya. hehe
hahaha..
I know where your coming from.. you just keep bouncing from thought to thought and its funny as hell! You need that weekend to passout for 48hours!
nice blog you have here!
wanna trade you sleep my hours and i stay awake your hours.
I’ve been sleeping for the past 4 days.
I think maybe You should go to sleep.Maybe that’s why ur hand is shaking.
