Fasttelco

Fasttelco is up and running, and fast.

My first thought was that they piggybacked onto another ISP .. nope, A quick traceroute (the path between you and a website) shows they have their own servers, up and running. The latency (time to send info between you and website) is great (not using microwave sats.).

Update:

Their website services seem to still be down, they probably don’t have the necessary systems to bring up the websites. I hope they have a backup of their websites (and those of others hosted on their systems).

Impressive, maybe they had a disaster recovery site hidden somewhere in Kuwait.

I am impressed, i really thought things would take far much longer. But any respectable ISP should have a backup plan incase something goes wrong, i guess they are using their plan B right now.

    What I think?

    1. They brought in new equipment to their offices, or one on a different floor at the MOC building.

Why?, Because no other location in Kuwait (That I am aware of) has complete ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) links to the Telco exchanges (Where Fiber > DSL) in the seperate areas.

    2. They set up their own links, not using those of another ISP.

Qualitynet/Zajil is using Teleglobe as their backbone, Fasttelco is using Flagtel and there is a ~600ms lag between them and other ISPs.

Anybody know how I could get in touch with a techie at Fasttelco to get the full story?
