Ramblings of a random person.
Random Ramblings.
I don’t have much time to post; and when I do the only thing I want to talk about is traffic (which is very cliché). So here I am sitting at work, taking a mental break (I swear I am working). Anyway, I have no idea where I am going with this… But here are some random thoughts (part 2) that I have been thinking about.
I miss my car (the one that is in America). Don’t take this the wrong way, I don’t really feel affection towards material objects. However, I do feel affection to the memories and sentiment that I associate with the car. The feeling of independence (I am honestly not trying to make this sound like a national anthem). The thought that I could go anywhere and do anything whenever I wanted to was great. In Kuwait, have very limited choices if you want to drive anywhere far (Chalet, Abdili, Desert, Saudi, Iraq). Gone are the days of crossing a country to have veal parmesan at a small Italian restaurant you found on a road trip (All other road trips led to fast food and expired candy from ghetto stores in the middle of Indiana or Ohio).
More to come on ‘what I miss series’; even though I will probably change my template several times before posting.
On another note, either the tea at working is getting better or my standards have gone way down (I am hinting towards the latter).

Yeah…I can sort of relate to those feelings…well, not completely because I’m still here BUT everytime I go back home I’m like “There is nothing to do here! It’s so damn tiny!” But at least we can fly over to Dubai for 70 KD or so…But I love escaping my ghetto-ized location and take an hour long drive to the fabulous city of Chicago. Take care and more random thoughts please
Don’t worry; it sounded more like a commercial than a national anthem. It’s good to record what you miss although there won’t be a point of feeling bad about it.. just for future reference maybe.
And about the tea; that was the most alarming! man, bring your own tea!
Erzulie, How I miss the windy city .. 3.30 hours away, the W-lakeshore was my second home. I have spent at least 2% of my college life at the Ikea in Schaumburg.
Uzf, Not feeling bad about anything .. If I even feel somewhat depressed I have somebody do my laundry, have someone else make me a machboos, spend ~6$ on dinner and then drive around like a madman; Then I remember why I love Kuwait. Its just good to reminisce.
I miss coss country drives to Chicago and closer areas.. :S and SNOW!
looooool @ ghetto stores in the middle of Indiana and Ohio… heyy… you have something against Ohio buddy?? lool
I know what you mean about jumping in the car and drivnig and driving… last summer my sister and I did a few road trips… ending up in Chicago, West Virgina, Detroit, New York, DC…. uffff, how im going to miss those days when i go back to kuwait!!!!! thats why im cherishing EVERY moment!
Man I so know how you feel and it will take you about a year to get used to it here. In the states you can do about anything whenever you feel like it. I once drove 10 hours just to eat at burger king in miami while I was in tampa. Since I came back I so miss that and actually feel lazy to do anything at all other than sit at home!
awww poor K… keep your mind focused on the good coffee (let’s say it’s geting better) and i hope they bring u that car u want so badly
My car, well my brothers car (his now), isnt coming to Kuwait anytime soon .. I didn’t bring it back because:
1. I will lose my warranty (the car has issues and will probably ending up costing more in repairs. In america they cover everything under warranty for 4 years.)
2. The AC is terrible
3. My brother is there, no need to go and get another car for 3 years.
As for the tea .. we are moving to the other office very soon and its close to R’aya, going to start going there for my caffiene fix.
thanks for telling me the car has bad ac… it will come in handy when its really warm…
yay…
hahahahaha!
ahhh…. you made me all nostalgic for road trips! Damn it! If only it wasn’t -10 outside!!
I don’t know where you work but some of those little indian dudes make damn good tea!
nice site by the way!
k ,,, its really fun to cross where ever you go , but believe me ,, (home sweet home)
